Camelback Mountain in the Poconos can be found in Tannersville, Pennsylvania around and within Pocono State Park and is the largest ski resort in the Poconos. The highest point of the mountain reaches a dizzying elevation of 2,133 feet. This area of the Poconos receives approximately fifty inches of snow fall a year, and Camelback Mountain boasts 160 glistening acres of skiing and snowboarding.
The longest slope at Camelback is one mile long, known as ‘Nile Mile’, which features an adrenaline pumping vertical drop of 800 feet. This one is not for the faint of heart.
Camelback has 15 lifts to get you from the bottom to the top, so that you can get yourself back down to the bottom, and you and your posse can try their luck at a Hoho, since Camelback Resort has the only half pipe in all of the Poconos.
Camelback has enough snowmaking capacity to cover 2 acres of dry ground with a foot of the white stuff in one hour. This is sure to keep you ripping even on the off days. But there is more at Camelback. They offer ski and snowboard lessons for children and adults. And for the extreme skier wannabe there is Graffiti Park and the take flight airbag, where you can try those aerial maneuvers that you’ve seen on the X games and know that you’re going to land safely on a cushion of air, just like a Hollywood stuntman.
