Popularly known as ‘The Niagara of Pennsylvania”, Bushkill Falls offers visitors a variety of interesting things to see and do while visiting the Poconos. For the nature lovers and hikers, this is one of the best places to experience in the Keystone State. The clear, rushing waters of the falls, surrounded by the gorgeous forest scenery is about as pristine and untouched as you’ll ever witness.
Bushkill Falls was opened to the public in 1904 by Charles Peters. Peters’ father Henry moved his family to the area in 1819. The Peters were a family of successful entrepreneurs, with Henry owning a tavern and store and son Charles owning the falls area. The Peters family still owns the area to this day.

The Delaware River flows through the falls, which also features Pennell Falls, the Upper Canyon and Laurel Glen. Once you take in these sights, you’ll be treated to the view of water rushing off of a 100-foot cliff at Main Falls. There are an abundance of trails and around the area to help you take in the natural beauty of Bushkill Falls.
Hiking enthusiasts and nature lovers perk up when discussing Bridal Veil Falls. Romance is in the air among the misty falls. The trail follows the Pond Run stream, flowing into Little Bushkill. The path then leads into the deep woods, so be sure to take proper precautions. Bug spray, sunblock, a hat are among the essentials to bring along on your hike. High socks or long pants to avoid pests such as ticks and mosquitoes are also a recommendation. A word of caution: be sure to wear proper hiking shoes and be alert of your surroundings while hiking, as there are reports of accidents and even deaths happening to hikers.
